Refreshing the brand and social presence of a bed, breakfast, and spa

The Nest Bed runs a bed and breakfast with an on-site spa in the Brazos Valley.

Challenge

The Nest Bed runs a bed and breakfast with an on-site spa in the Brazos Valley. Its logo and visual identity dated back decades, and the owner wanted the business's online presence to reflect what guests experienced on the property. With travel and spa bookings reshaped by the pandemic in summer 2020, the questions were how to refresh the brand without discarding what regulars recognized, how to keep a consistent look across platforms, and how the owner could keep social media running after the engagement ended.

How the team worked

The team began with a conversation with the owner about where the business stood, who stayed and visited, how people found and booked it, and the three words she would use to describe the place. That conversation set the tone for everything that followed: the brand had to feel unique, relaxing, and personal, and it had to stay recognizable to the guests who already knew it.

From there the team worked through a structured brand toolkit, filling in a brand heart, guest personas, a competitive comparison, a brand voice questionnaire, and a rebrand questionnaire. Each section was reviewed with the owner in a second meeting, where she adjusted the mission wording, asked to fold one of her own long-standing phrases into the purpose, and confirmed which logo directions she liked.

The final stretch turned the strategy into usable assets: a refined logo, a banner, a proposed color scheme, and an outline for how to keep Instagram, Facebook, and travel listing pages consistent with the new look. The plan included gathering new photography of the property and a guide the owner could use to manage the platforms herself.

Workstreams

  • Interviewed the owner to capture how the business described itself, who its guests were, and where bookings came from.
  • Worked through a brand foundation exercise to define purpose, vision, mission, and values, then revised the wording with the owner.
  • Built guest personas and compared the business against online rental platforms and a nearby bed and breakfast on look, messaging, and channels.
  • Drafted a tagline, value proposition, and three messaging pillars built around the beds, the breakfast, and the spa.
  • Refined the existing logo and proposed a color scheme rather than replacing an identity the owner wanted to keep.
  • Outlined a consistent posting theme across Instagram, Facebook, and travel listing pages, and planned a guide the owner could follow on her own.

What the client received

  • Brand foundation: purpose, vision, mission, and values
  • Guest personas and competitive comparison
  • Tagline, value proposition, and messaging pillars
  • Refined logo and banner graphics with a proposed color scheme
  • Social media theme and posting guidance
  • Client presentation deck

Outcome

The Nest Bed came away with a written brand foundation, refined logo and banner files, defined messaging pillars, and a clearer picture of the guests it wanted to reach. The owner had a visual direction to apply consistently across social media and listing pages, and a framework for keeping those channels active in-house.
